Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Sage Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. It falls on the third day (Tritiya) of Shukla Paksha in Vaishakh or Vaisakha month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India.

In 2023, Parshuram Jayanti will be celebrated on April 22.

On this day, devotees take a holy dip in sacred rivers across India such as Ganga and Yamuna to pay homage to Sage Parshuram and seek his blessings for physical and spiritual well-being. Devotees also visit temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Parshuram to offer prayers, perform special puja and chant mantras.

It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva on the day of Parshuram Jayanti results in getting rid of all kinds of sorrows and misfortunes.

It is also customary for devotees to fast throughout the day and break it only after offering prayers in the evening. Prasad or blessed food is distributed as a part of the celebration and devotional songs are sung in honor of Parshuram. On this day, giving donations to Brahmin priests and charities is also considered highly auspicious.

Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated with great enthusiasm across India, especially in the northern regions and Gujarat. People also observe parayan, a ritualistic reading of holy scriptures like Ramayana and Vishnu Purana to commemorate this special occasion.

By celebrating Parshuram Jayanti with reverence, devotees receive immense divine blessings of the deity and achieve peace, prosperity and good health in life. May Lord Parshuram shower his divine grace and blessings on all. Jai Parshuram!

The celebration of Parshuram Jayanti is incomplete without the chanting of mantras dedicated to Sage Parshuram. Some popular mantras include “Om Paramatmane Namah” and “Nama Parshuramaya Bhujangaprayatam”. Chanting these mantras with devotion and sincerity is believed to bring immense spiritual benefit.

Therefore it is important for devotees to recite these mantras to seek the divine grace of Lord Parshuram on this special day. Jai Shri Parshuram!

The celebration of Parshuram Jayanti is also an opportunity to remember and honor the spirit of Sage Parshuram and his immense contribution to society. He was a great warrior, philosopher and religious leader who fought against injustice and defended the rights of oppressed people. His teachings are still followed today as a source of spiritual guidance for devotees. May the glory of Parshuram Jayanti remain forever! Jai Parshuram!
